NOYB files complaint against Ubisoft – over illegal data collection in offline games The privacy NGO NOYB has filed a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (DSB) against Ubisoft. The reason: Ubisoft forces users to connect to the internet and log into a Ubisoft account even when playing purely singleplayer games – despite these games having no online functionality.

The European Commission is preparing a reform of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The aim is to simplify existing regulations, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. The fundamental principles of data protection are to remain unaffected.
