Age of Darkness: Final Stand Review

My review and the resulting feedback from all visitors who has read it and/or asked questions was reason enough for the developers to integrate an opt/out function in their product.

The product itself was patched 18.10.2021 and consumers got the choice to get an optionally working opt-in/out for integrated data collection.

Difference to before is now that after the start the default analytics are disabled and users are aked if they want to enable them or not. Why something like this is not generally mandatory during the development of games is beyond me.

But at least it seems now reasonably solved. The only downer which remains is the missing privacy policy on the product page.

Everything else remains (if actively used by the user) as in my original review which can be read here (external link). For more info, see the developer response or visit the related forum (external link).

Optional but integrated. Feedback formular goes here. To Google G-Mail. Strange but true.,

As usual these days, outsourced communication platform. Unfortunately this is a separate topic but it fits into the picture that no own services are used either.

Epic Games

Unreal Engine and Crashlytics. The CrashReportClient.exe should be deleted before game initialization. Instead of manual search and deletion of mentioned file/s, a selfwritten tool can help to delete spyware easily from Steam folders. By the way, this applies to every title with the same file.
