Following the critically acclaimed 2014 Game of the Year winner Wasteland 2, the RPG series that pioneered the post-apocalyptic genre in video games returns with Wasteland 3.

Wasteland 3 von inXile Entertainment ist ein Fall für sich in Bezug auf das Ausspionieren von uns Spielern.

Zuallererst wird es natürlich wieder mal nicht für nötig befunden, Kunden auf der Produktseite über integrierte Dienste zu informieren. Geschweige denn ein berechtigtes Interesse an Datensammlung vorzuweisen.

Aufgenommen werden Hardware & Ordnerpfade, Software, die eigene MaschinenID (weltweit einmaliger Wert, gern für Identifizierung genutzt), weitere eindeutige Id's die Personen zuzuordnen sind (Steamname und ID, CorrelationId's, Spieleraccount) uvm.

Das Gesamtwerk wird über Microsoft Azure Playfab Analytics verwaltet und geloggt. Playfab beinhaltet folgende Dinge: Echtzeit-Analysen, A/B-Tests, In-Game-Ereignisse, In-Game-Promotions, Spielerverwaltung und mehr. Weitere Funktionen sind Bestenlisten, Serverlogik, Spielersegemtierung und Indepth Analysen, Erstellung von Echtzeitregeln und Aufgaben, SLA uvm.

Wen wundert es? Denn inXile Entertainment ist ein Tochterunternehmen der Xbox Game Studios (ehemals Microsoft Studios, Microsoft Game Studios, oder Microsoft Games) des amerikanischen Riesen Microsoft Corporation.

Der Dienst ist aus anderen Titeln bereits bekannt dafür dass Spiele Telemetrie und Onlinezwang miteinander verzahnen. Wird Telemetrie abgeschaltet, funktioniert das Spiel nur noch zur Hälfte.

Ein weiteres Beispiel mit demselben Vorgehen aus der jüngsten Zeit wäre z.B. der Titel Halo: The Masterchief Collection.

Der Dienst Microsoft Speech ist in Wasteland 3 ebenfalls wieder mit dabei. Hier wird jedem nahegelegt sich die Datenschutzbestimmungen   des Dienstes auf den Microsoftseiten durchzulesen.

Zuguterletzt gibt es einen involvierten Crashlytics die für Monitoring und Reports zuständig sind.

Fazit


Wie gewohnt wid uns Kunden mit einer "Friß oder Stirb" Mentalität begegnet und ganz nebenbei ist ist das Produkt ein hervorragendes Beispiel für den Weg den Daten gehen.

Ein vermeintliches Entwicklerstudio mit eigenem Namen, aber ein millardenschwerer Konzern dahinter, der oberflächlich gar nichts mit dem Produkt selbst zu tun hat und sich einfach nimmt was nicht bei 2 auf den Bäumen ist.

Der integrierte Onlinezwang ist ein eigenes Thema für sich. Vor allem bei neueren Titeln aus dem Hause Microsoft, den leider viel zuviele "Gamer" in diesen Zeiten mitmachen.

Der Preis dafür ist allerdings einiges höher, als die von uns Endkunden verlangte harte Währung.
