SecuROM is a controversial DRM (Digital Rights Management) technology from Sony DADC, the original developers of Denuvo, which was discontinued until about 2010. It served to prevent the illegal reproduction and distribution of software products, especially games. SecuROM has been discontinued but games that can still use this service can either no longer be launched at all or only with effort.
