With the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner from Adobe, Inc. (german), various functions can be executed to help users clean up broken installation directories. A while ago, Adobe has recently added another function. The cleaning of the hosts file, if no connection to their servers is possible.
The function may seem useful at first because especially cracked versions like to write around in the hosts to block licensing servers. However, there is something wrong here.
In the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner, the function "Fix host file" can be found in the selection list and, like various other cleaners (iOBit, WiseCare), lives up to its name. They clean... intransparently and more than necessary.
Users who confirm point 12 in the selection lose all entries (if any exist) in their hosts file, which somehow have to do with Adobe.
Starting logically from blocked licensing servers, but and this is the crux of the matter, telemetry, IP and geo data collection services from Adobe, as well as all entries to Adobe Marketing Analytics. Say users are made completely naked again with the "fix host file" function.
Since this affects filter lists on this page and also other websites that offer hosts files in which e.g. Adobe Marketing Analytics are blocked, this is a general problem for everyone who uses adblockers and third-party filter lists. Even if no Adobe programs are used.
Even though most users will never have to deal with this problem, Adobe will not make any friends with this function.
It is recommended that you either not use this feature at all or only use it if you know what you are doing.
A not so harmless cleaner
